tftnewsaugWhile none of the so called “tools of the trade” for TFT are needed in order to do an effective job, there are several tools that we have used over the last three decades that can greatly enhance our skills, increase our success rate, maintain improvement and improve overall well-being.

Tools of trade is a term generally used in bankruptcy law to determine what property a person would commonly use for the purpose of making a living, as items that are tools of trade are separately exempt from attachment with an additional amount above that normally given for a person’s property.

The TFT tools that I share in our latest newsletter (you can download it here) with you are applicable to all levels of TFT users.  They are a combination of both time-tested tools that Roger discovered over 30 years ago to some that are just being introduced and even some that we are currently testing and not even available to the public.  Read more

for the burning heart

Thought Field Therapy is well established as breakthrough process that Dr. Roger Callahan discovered 30 years ago, helping to put individuals back in charge of their own healing process.

With rising health care costs, more people than ever are looking for alternative health solutions that will save them a visit to the doctor’s office. In fact, a recent report on Complementary and Alternative Medicine by the American Institute of Medicine states finds over 1/3 of Americans have pursued some form of alternative health treatment.

Thought Field Therapy has many followers who have adapted Dr. Roger Callahan’s techniques and position it as an offshoot.  Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT, is one example. Although the “offshoots” are marketed well on the Internet, few have the rich history and the success of TFT. In fact, TFT is now used to treat trauma victims of genocide, natural disasters and war through the ATFT Foundation.

TFT also helps soldiers returning from combat.

“For 25 years I have treated American war veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have witnessed gallant efforts to keep a job, be members of a family, overcome homelessness and resist the temptation of suicide.

I am very grateful to Dr. Callahan for his discovery of Thought Field Therapy. For too long a time, my patients and I have yearned for something like this. In my opinion, this gentle action technique is easily the best approach to thorough and enduring relief from this crippling psychological disorder.”

What is Optimal Health—Really?

“According to the World Health Organization, health is defined as: “A state of optimal well-being, not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.” Wellness practitioners believe that optimal well-being requires a balance between wellness dimensions that comprise the whole person.”

Joanne CallahanWhen we began to consider offering TFT Voice Technology in and to groups, we needed to come up with a name for the new course. Roger wanted something that clearly stated the benefit of what attendees would be receiving—and Optimal Health was that benefit.

During his long years of discovering and developing TFT, Roger used the dictionary frequently as he strove to define and name what he was observing. I remember when he found the definition for “perturbation” and his excitement at how it fit the concept he was wanting to define. We shared that same excitement for Optimal Health as we developed that course. Read more

TFT is a healing modality that seems to be limitless in its applications and potential. Our international team for training and trauma relief is leaving Uganda for home in the next day or so. Together with our Rwandan teams, they have helped war and genocide victims, prisoners and guards, teachers and school children, disabled and homeless, and the families and community leaders of many countries.

We have also shared wonderful cases of pets and animals that have benefited from tapping. Mary Kennedy is one who has shared some of these stories with us in the past. But her next story crosses boundaries of healing that we don’t often have the opportunity to experience. Read more

Tapping for school anxiety

As summer winds down and we approach the end of August, many of us turn our thoughts to getting ready for “back to school” and the stresses, both emotional and financial that accompany it. TFT can help us face these challenges with calm confidence and focus.

We will follow along the same theme, tapping for our family, which focused on the joy of birth and the heart break of infertility. We shared some of the ways TFT has been helpful in facilitating pregnancy and supporting a healthy baby. We even shared some pictures of a couple of our beautiful “TFT” babies.

But, in order to remain a “Happy, Healthy Family”, we also need to learn ways to safely and quickly address the stresses of a growing and aging family. Back to school and the challenges that come with that phase of life can take it’s toll on the entire family. We will also touch on this in our upcoming teleclass, Tapping for a Healthy, Happy Family — From the Very Beginning.

As millions are focused on the back to school processes, parents, teachers and our children are experiencing the stress and anxiety of beginning another school year.

A new school year, is a time of excitement and anticipation, but it can also be very stressful. Read more

Learn the Sensitivities, Intolerances and Toxins TFT Protocol

How much better could you feel every day, if you could learn what things trigger those negative feelings, rapid heart rate, a head ache, or fatigue…. if you can avoid eating things that make you feel bad, or, possibly neutralize them when you eat them, you could significantly improve the quality of your life?

And, what if you could eliminate negative feelings and self-sabotage when they start, or even before they happen?

The top two questions we have been asked over the last three decades of TFT’s development and training are:

How can I identify my own toxins? Or, how can I stop negative thinking and blocks to succeeding?

Class2

Celestin-and-Jenny

Last weekend Celestin Mitabu, the TFT Foundation’s lead trainer in Kigali, Rwanda, and Director of the Rwandan Orphans Project, joined the Callahan’s Optimal Health training in Seattle, WA. His training was provided by the Callahan’s and his travel by the TFT Foundation, including considerable donations from board members Jenny Edwards and Suzanne Connolly. Jenny donated a majority of the airline miles for his trip and Suzanne and her family hosted him in Seattle for nearly a week. Joanne, Jenny and Suzanne also donated personally, school and personal hygiene materials for the orphans.

This is a cause for celebration as Celestin is the first to have learned TFT Voice Technology in Africa. He will use it to support further trainings in adjoining regions and countries. He has already been asked to train in the Congo and will assist with the foundation’s follow-up to the 2012 PTSD study in Uganda. He has already done so much to help the people of his country and share TFT with others, we are proud to have him represent TFT in Kigali.

Celestin brought a beautiful carved walking stick to present to Roger, TFT’s Founder, as a thank you for the gift of TFT. He told us these sticks are presented to “men of honor”.

tapping therapyI remember the day Michelle Smith walked into our TFT Optimal Health program. She wanted to start a family, but couldn’t. She’d been diagnosed with severe and “incurable” endometriosis which prevented her from becoming pregnant. As a motivated and vivacious young woman, she stepped up as our first volunteer for a demonstration during the class.

Her case exemplifies the healing power of TFT Voice Technology. And in notes to us since the training, she’s shared her story of more than a year and a half of using TFT to improve so many aspects of her health and well-being. No one but Michelle—in her own words, as she sent letters and emails to us—could accurately convey her feelings and experience. It’s just one more heart-warming story of healing with TFT.

“Dear Roger and Joanne… I’m Pregnant!”

Letter following the Optimal Health program…

“During the class, Roger found my womb and reproductive area to be in psychological reversal and diagnosed a treatment for the endometriosis which I applied several times that day—as well as repeatedly checking the reproductive area for reversals.

My endometriosis is extremely interesting to treat. It’s only mid-cycle, but I treat it every day and when I treat it, it feels like elastic bands snapping inside me on the laparoscopy scars I have near my ovaries—which can be quite painful but only for a second.

There is no known cause or cure for endometriosis so this will be amazing if it works. I will keep you informed. Every month, I suffer from sickness and diarrhea and excruciating pains that make me scream into a towel so as not to scare my husband. I cannot stand up or eat or sleep, and I have been unable to work due to this. Because we are trying for children, I can’t have a laparoscopy even if I was willing to, as it means we cannot try for children for six months afterward. My husband is 47 and I am 36, so time is not on our side.” Read more

Tapping for dogs

In a successful experience with TFT, I was retained to work with a Jack Russell Terrier who was dismissed from the Conformation Ring for growling at the judge and biting him when he examined the dog’s feet.

Could TFT cure this problem? I wondered.

After some basic obedience training using positive reinforcement, I found the pup only 80% reliable. By using TFT, I was able to break through that final 20% and he went on to earn his Championship.

I started with desensitizing handling, then had strangers handle his feet while he was on a table. When he growled at them and showed his teeth to the handler, I started TFT.

At first, the pup was not receptive to the tapping. That is to say, he resisted it. I started by tapping him in the middle of his forehead, a technique I have used for many years (prior to my knowledge of TFT) to calm hyperactive dogs. After getting his attention, I used the eyebrow, under eye, under arm, clavicle, and gamut tapping sequence.

At first he looked surprised, and then calm.

After several treatments, the pup seemed to invite the tapping as though aware it was making him feel better.

I’ve also used TFT with other dogs including, recently, two Labrador Retrievers who were rescued from very abusive homes. Both dogs were fear-aggressive, lunging, barking, snapping, then retreating. After working with the dogs for several days, gaining their confidence, I had a stranger approach the dogs to maximize their trauma. I then applied the treatment, tapping the forehead, under eye, clavicle and sternum. The dogs calmed noticeably.

I have also used TFT many times briefly when working with students in classes. As I approach the pups, I signal them with the calming signals and then tap them on the forehead, under the eye, and on the sternum or clavicle, whichever is easiest to find. The only times I do not feel successful are when the owners interfere with or are not willing to try the treatment.

I believe TFT works when the dog is confident in the person applying the treatment. It should not be tried with a dog who is frightened of everyone and who has no “ally” in the room. In this situation, I find that dogs are not receptive to treatment and it is very difficult to tap the appropriate spots. —Lee Wells
