Dr. Mary Cowley, TFT-VT, discusses trauma and demonstrates the TFT trauma relief tapping Algorithm.

Thought Field Therapy® has been used to overcome all sorts of traumas around the world.

The new book Stop The Nightmares Of Trauma provides the latest and most up-to-date procedures and theory for TFT… you can get more information here.

The TFT Foundation is excited to announce the publication of its 2009 PTSD study and work in Rwanda.  It has taken a long time and a lot of effort by many, and led by our board member, and Trauma Relief Committee chair, Suzanne Connolly.

It was a long time coming but, I think, an important article in a well read journal by those interested in helping Africa recover from trauma.  I would also like to thank the Peter C. Alderman Foundation for their assistance in edit corrections.

The entire study can be found on page 24 of the June 2013 Issue of the African Journal of Traumatic Stress, found here: http://petercaldermanfoundation.org/AfricanJnl/AJTS_V1N5.pdf

I wish to thank all the members of the TFT Community, The Paton Family Trust, The PepsiCo Foundation and the Ruth Lane Foundation for their support to complete this work.

The abstract is below.

Abstract

The use of Thought Field Therapy (TFT), a brief therapy technique, is examined in a study titled, Utilizing Community Resources to Treat PTSD: A Random Controlled Study Using Thought Field Therapy, to determine if there is a significant difference in the reduction of trauma symptoms between the treated group and the untreated group post treatment.

Study participants in the waitlist group received treatment after having completing the posttest.  One-hundred and sixty four adult survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide received a one-time trauma-focused TFT intervention in this randomized waitlist controlled study. Prior to the study,TFT techniques were taught to community leaders, who then provided them in their native language, Kinyarwanda, to the participants during an individual session. Pre- and post-intervention surveys of trauma symptoms included the Trauma Symptom Inventory (TSI)

(Briere, 1995) and the Modified Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptom Scale (MPSS) (Falsetti, Resnick, Resnick, & Kilpatrick, 1993). After one week, significant differences were found in trauma symptoms and level of PTSD symptom severity and frequency between the treatment and the waitlist control groups. Participants in the waitlist group experienced significant reductions in trauma symptoms following their treatments, which took place after the first posttest.  These positive outcomes suggest that a one-time, community leader facilitated trauma-focused intervention may be beneficial with protracted PTSD in genocide survivors.

Roger Callahan Founder Tapping

During the pre-conference Research day, Howard and Phyll Robson presented the TFT Foundation’s Uganda PTSD study. It was well received. They also met with other TFT researchers and some professionals involved in possible further studies and funding to continue their work in Uganda.

Suzanne Connoly

Suzanne Connolly received ACEP’s Harvey Baker Research Award

Also, a huge CONGRATULATIONS! to Suzanne Connolly as she received ACEP’s Harvey Baker Research Award for outstanding contribution to the field of Energy Psychology. The TFT Foundation, USA, is so proud to have her on their board and leading their Trauma Relief committee as well as leading their research in the field.

David Feinstein paid tribute to Roger in his excellent presentation (see photos). We all send our thoughts and blessings to him as he is healing from a recent surgery.

Suzanne Connolly reported, “Bob Pasahow did a stellar job presenting his workshop -Optimizing Psychotherapy Results: The Synergy of Integrating TFT and EFT. It was well attended and extremely well received.

Caroline Sakai also presented a training – EP with Trauma, Homelessness and Compassion Fatigue – that drew a concentration of EP practitioners concerned with delivering TFT or other EP techniques to the underserved.”

One of the other attendees, Christina Mayhew, TFT-Adv. says,

“I just came back from the ACEP conference in Reston, VA this weekend and I am so excited to see so many of the various modalities incorporating ‘TFT tapping’ into their work and the various outstanding speakers who gave credit to Roger for his pioneering work in energy psychology.

It is really hard to wrap my head around the awesomeness of this truly remarkable and miraculous technique which is so simplistic yet powerful beyond the belief sometimes. There are so many ways that TFT can be used to facilitate healing in the mind, body and spirit. I know that Roger’s work will continue to grow in its foundational roots around the world and with the scientific research being conducted, TFT will become a widely accepted practice in and outside our medical communities.

Yesterday afternoon we gathered as many TFT practitioners as we could find to meet so we could connect and talk about how we are utilizing our skills, what can we do to get TFT out in the communities more and into the military to work with our service men and women. We all had a sense of pride and joy knowing we are a blessed and elite group who have been taught an awesome technique to share with our family and the world.

I feel we are truly blessed to know Roger and Joanne and extremely grateful for continuing to give so much of themselves to humanity around the world. You have touched and transformed so many lives over the years. I’m so glad that the two of you are able to see how the seed of ‘TFT’, planted so many years ago, has sprouted roots across the globe and changing one life at a time.

Thank you and God Bless you! You are Angels on Earth!!”

Thank you to those who represented the rest of us there and in the field of Energy Psychology. Our growing TFT community is becoming, a stronger and more integrated part of the larger EP community.

The ACEP Conference will be held in Phoenix AZ next June at a Native American owned luxury Hotel. We encourage all TFT practitioners to come join in the camaraderie and fun enjoyed at the ACEP Conference this year.

TFT Foundation

Dear TFT Community,

I am grateful to have the opportunity to share with you the last step in completing the TFT Foundation’s PBS quality documentary “From Trauma to Peace”. This work has been supported by four studies and the transformation of an entire region in Rwanda. A mayor in a Northern Provence of Rwanda commented that:

“People who I have never seen smile, are smiling. People who were not productive, are productive.”

We were blessed to have an Emmy Award Winning Documentarian (Bhutan) believe in our ability to create PEACE with our sharing of TFT. With his help, we have just launched our Indiegogo campaign to complete the documentation of this transformation and support further treatment of trauma victims.

Please click the link here – http://www.indiegogo.com/trauma-to-peace – and see his video and read about how the healing of thousands, one person at a time, has transformed a whole community and its people, from the trauma of genocide to peace.

TFT Foundation

Thank you to all who have donated for these studies and humanitarian missions over the last 6 years. It is hard to imagine the many lives and hearts you have helped heal with your generosity.

As we head in to the holiday season, many of us have so much to be grateful for. Please help us complete this campaign and continue to treat thousands in Africa and other traumatized regions both at home and abroad. The TFT Foundation uses 93 cents of every dollar donated directly on its programs.

Activity on the campaign site is key to our success; visit the Indiegogo page, comment on what you see, tell others if you have had personal success with TFT, share the page with your lists, your family, your friends and your colleagues. The more people that visit, post and interact with the site, the higher our rankings and the greater awareness we can create for our trauma relief work and all of Energy Psychology.

Learn about the excellent Perks available for participating. Meet our documentary team.

Remember—it is activity that makes the campaign successful.

Please visit the site – http://www.indiegogo.com/trauma-to-peace – share it with everyone you know and help us move closer to PEACE amidst a chaotic and traumatized world.

Thank you for joining our campaign,

From Wearing an Ankle Brace to Picking Tomatoes and Corn

A 70+ year old female came into my office wearing a brace on her ankle, and in severe pain all over her body, especially in her joints and spine. Her pulse rate was 197. She had been recently diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and an auto immune disease. Blood work revealed a low white count, anemia, and increased Sed rate, indicating her body was in a severe state of inflammation.

She was frightened because she had been unable to work or leave her home all summer due to the pain. Immediately, I reset her polarity (corrected her reversal). Her beginning SUD (level of discomfort) was at 11-12 on a 0-10 scale.

We completed the Trauma Relief Technique, the 9 Gamut Sequence, Environmental Toxin, Collarbone Breathing Exercise, Seven-Second Treatment, then tested for further Psychological Reversals and found several levels of reversals and corrected them.

Then on to diagnostic test points to develop her personal tapping sequence. We found four tapping points: Thyroid, stomach, heart, and large intestine meridians. We tapped for those systems and finished with the Eye Roll.

She stated she had no pain and her SUD was down to O. She began walking back and forth in the office and then decided “to put it to a real test” she held the back of a chair and squatted to the floor and up again without pain, which she had not been able to do for months. She left the office and returned 2 hours later, carrying a bag of sweet corn and tomatoes, which she picked from her garden, for the first time this summer.

She was scheduled to go to a class reunion in Illinois, but advised not to fly by her doctor due to the autoimmune disease. She continued the Trauma Relief Technique for 2 weeks and went to and returned from her class reunion without any symptoms. It has been 2 months now, and she remains symptom free.

Blessings to the Callahans!!!!

Things have taken a turn here on our horse farm located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in north Georgia. We have always been a magnet for animals that were lost and needed help, but it seems that more and more we are attracting people who are lost and needing help in another way.

horseIronically, it is the very animals that we have taken in and provided hope, health and a home for that are now giving back to troubled and confused children and “bucket list” adults wanting one more chance to do something they have always dreamed of doing.

The atmosphere here is peaceful and harmonious. Even the stray dogs and abused horses innately know there is an unwritten rule that if you want to stay, you have to get along and put their differences aside. That essence seems to have a very positive effect on our visitors and students.

This summer our horse riding camps held more than the average amount of children that grandparents or guardians were desperately seeking a refuge for to help erase or ease troubles and traumatic experiences from their young minds. The trend appears to be growing and we are making an impact, albeit a seemingly small one.

I have seriously been giving some thought to how I can help in a larger way. Horses and dogs have proven over and over again to have special therapeutic healing powers and I can say from experience that when I am with them, the rest of the world goes away during that time.

healing horses

Coupled with some direction using trauma relief tapping, I know I can help make that other stuff fade into the background and there will be relief and even joy where there was none. Repeated sessions bring those feelings back into the normal range of everyday life, not the exception.

Our camps are for troubled children who need to be reminded that the world can really be a wonderful place. Our next camp begins the week of July 16’th.  For more information please contact:  barbarahutson@windstream.net
